He's never liked working under DOF and Vince brought one in about a month ago

well he kissed DV @ss enough times during interviews, that you would think he would have had a bit more input into a decision on a dof

Oh, dear! News hits The Nest before FGR's own forum, too! Probably has to go through their auditors before it gets posted.

Enjoy the big pay off Steve, enjoy the summer and you'll be back in work before Xmas.
Amazing how many non-league clubs have parted company with managers who have got their team into the play-offs.

Let's hope Flynny gets us off to a good start......

FGR forum is generally apathetic about SC going - but pretty much all of them suspect he's been treated shoddily by DV and may even have been unaware of the DoF appointment until he returned from holiday.

Where is this Savage story coming from? I haven't seen anything about it and I thought he was all-in with Macclesfield. It'll be hilarious watching it fall apart at FGR. Again.

He was seen with their new DOF, Mark Bowen, in Stroud this morning apparently

Historically Dale Vince used to be quite tolerant of his managers, but after Rob Edwards ran away it's the opposite.
Wonder whether it's all down to him or his CEO young Dane, aka as a little stale.

If a lot of our problems are down to money, FGR's trajectory illustrates it's not just about the money. Terrible decision-making going on at that club ever since Rob Edwards walked out on them. Dale seems to spend most of his time these days standing outside the high court having sued someone/had a case thrown out [delete as appropriate].

Drifting off topic I wonder which will get built first ( or ever), FGR's new stadium or a shiny new main stand at CTFC.

He's sacked 5 managers since Edwards, it's been ridiculous.

Cotterill has done a good job, has had full control and has stabilised the club. This DoF appointment has clearly happened behind his back as a way to force him out. Very poor.

I genuinely don't know, but hasn't there already been spades in the ground for FGR's new stadium?

Pure speculation but I would guess FGR ground as it's clearly a pet project for Stale Mince. I can't see our new main stand for at least three years probably closer to five given there are lots of hurdles to jump through such as purchasing the land, probably finding a development partner, securing the funds, planning permission (which is where I think FGR are now) then building it.

So Savage is moving from one monied non league club to another

Seeing as nobody in the media seems to ever admit that money is a huge factor in some clubs success I presume he thinks this and his media profile is his ticket to the premier league.

I think Savage deservedly gets a lot of grief for his media personality, etc... but what he's done with Macclesfield should be lauded to be honest.

He initially went in as a shareholder and director of football. After they sacked a few managers, he decided to have a go as manager himself and they won the league in his first attempt. Whilst Macclesfield have money now, it's not exactly FGR, Fylde or York levels of investment.

I actually don't think he'd be too bad an appointment for FGR. This isn't the same as Deeney and Ferguson who were appointed based on name alone (or in Deeney's case because there was a clause in his contract giving him first dibs if he signed as a player). Savage has worked lower down the pyramid in order to work his way up. That's a lot more risky.

But we’ve seen that Stale’s money means nothing and he struggles year on year, no matter who’s managing.

I didn't mention Vince's money, so I'm not sure what that has to do with Robbie Savage being a decent appointment?

How would Robbie Savage be able to become manager of FGR when he is currently a Director of MAcclesfield

You mentioned their level of investment compared to Macclesfield’s.

That was in response to Longmover saying he's moving from one monied club to another. My point was Macclesfield now have money but they're not blowing teams away financially.

Macclesfield were fully pro at the eighth tier and been fully pro since.

We'd be part time after two season in the fifth tier.

I'm inclined to believe Chris Sutton's comment "they bought the league"

Since being reformed Macclesfield have had the benefit of essentially being debt free, and have a big financial advantage over their competitors. Not that there’s anything wrong with that as it’s just a consequence of a former FL club being in the Northern League.

However I wouldn’t read too much into them strolling the league if I were Dale Vince. They had players who were rejecting contracts from National League clubs to join Macc.

I think the Savage thing is balls, tbh. He knows Mark Bowen from Wales going way back to the 90's. They could have been meeting about anything. Football chat or just a catch up. Savage only just signed a new 2 year deal as Macc manager and, as mentioned is director there. Whereas there's no rule saying you can't be a director of one club and manager of another, it would obviously be very odd. He'd have to jack in Macclesfield and, after everything he's committed to there, it would be a strange move.

Yes and no.

Groundwork has started on the surrounding area, but that's focussed on supporting infrastructure and community facilities (essentially the 4g training pitches). Stadium construction hasn't begun and there is no confirmed start date.

It's entirely possible you could build the infrastructure and training centre and the stadium never gets done............

Best ground in the National League North because he will have to cut back a little on wages and transfer fees to build that thing
