Lee Angol very well traveled. Hit or miss for me.

A name I know just cos he's been around the leagues so long. Definition of journeyman.

Cant attest to being an expert on his game, but I do remember him being decent in the defeat at Morecombe last season.

I am having flash backs of Martin Allen signing Julian Alsop from Bishops Cleeve with this one. A player who just got relegated in a team who couldn't score. I appreciate he's not being signed as someone to put the ball in the net - he's more of a hold up/link player. But it does feel like we are scrapping the barrel with this signing.

I'm sure someone on here suggested that experienced, reliable 9- goal a season strikers don't grow on trees so it's a positive that we've beaten off competition from the likes of Biggleswade F.C. to snare him. πŸ˜‰
A like for like replacement for George Miller at a fraction of the cost.

A coup!

This is currently the level we can expect. Cundy and Angol have experience, but I hope we supplement that with a few more 'progressive' signings

8 goals for a relegated side last season isn't bad. Hopefully get 10+ for us.

Why do you think he's like for like or a replacement for Miller, I don't think they are similar at all. Surely Miller isn't going anywhere now it would be crazy to release him with the takeover coming.

Angol was playing for the side with the smallest budget in the football league last season so at least he will be on relative peanuts. It's a gamble signing and gives us some competition up top if I am searching for positives.

Fair enough Robin.

The thought of George and Lee in tandem up front is a mouth-watering prospect.

It shows where we now are as a club when it comes to player recruitment. He was relegated with Morecambe last year and with Sutton the year before. Hopefully we can do just enough to stay up this season and then start improving.

In what way is it anything like the signing of Julian Alsop from Cleeve?

He was relegated with an EFL team last season and appears to have been their standout player. Their fans speak surprisingly highly of him.

Julian Alsop was playing in the 8th tier of English football and impressed Martin Allen in a friendly - he also had that semi-Legend status at Cheltenham.

I don't think signing Lee Angol is a coup by any stretch, but it is nothing like the signing of an over the hill Julian Alsop.

Seems like a replacement for Bowman to me.

Haven't checked Twitter for the "its not Carroll" meltdown yet....

Confirmed. But, the most important question:

An-gol, An-jol, Ayn-gol, Ayn-jol?

Or something else?

An-gol every time I've heard him mentioned before.

Hopefully he will soon be known as Lee An-goals.

Heh.

Have to say that on the face of it I'm pretty happy with this signing. We have been saying for ages that we need a big physical centre forward and from what I can recall Lee Angol is one of those.

Is he at the level of a Harry Smith, probably not but hopefully he can show that is he is a handful at this level.

Be interesting to see if he is played as a lone striker or is seen as a partner for Matty or George. I guess that depends on if Archer and Thomas are still around.

Anyway, welcome and good luck Lee, look forward to seeing you create some havoc amongst League 2 defenders!

I think another striker will be coming in and don't forget about Tom King and Dulson
