Very happy with that appointment, he has the experience we were looking for. Welcome to CTFC, Darrell!

Seems about right on balance; the more I looked into all the candidates it seemed he & Artell had as much as we could realistically hope for at this stage. Experienced in the lower leagues and had some past success, out of work and so with a point to prove. Personally I'd rather have that than a high-profile former player starting out in the job (not a dig at FG & Duncan Ferguson either, though it stands out as a clear example). We need someone who knows the ropes at this level, and as far as that gos he fits the bill. Lets just get behind him now, he's got a hell of a job on his hands..........

JP is wrong. It’s definitely Tony Adams resurrecting his managerial career.

Was he having an americano on the Prom?

Absolutely delighted with this appointment.

Loved at every club he's managed at - including Walsall where he wasn't even overly successful. I strongly believe there's a tune to be got out of these players and he has the personality to get it out of them.

He’s had his fair share of troubles over the years but he’s a tough cookie.
Our club needs a change of attitude. He could well be the man if he’s given the right backing.

Fantastic appointment, experienced and has done well and been loved in every job he's had. I can't see the board being able to release significant funds but if he's able to add a free transfer and bring 2-3 players of his choosing in January (whilst maybe off loading some of the current fringe players) he just might have a fighting chance of keeping us up.

Happy with this. A much better option than Artell although time will tell.

Onwards and upwards hopefully

Don’t think we could have asked for too much more. Good experience and, if we do go down, experience of getting out of league 2.

I'm glad most seem happy with this. Not massively convinced myself given that he has got as far as League 1 a couple of times before and then lost his job after bad runs, but I'll be behind him and hoping he does the business.

I’m really happy with that. Seems highly regarded at former clubs. Was impressed with him when he managed Bristol Rovers.

Hopefully if / when we get relegated, he will have stabilised things a bit. I don’t fear relegation as long as we aren’t in free fall.

Maybe people might cut DB and the club a bit of slack now?!

He was my first choice from the outset. The right fit given the size of the club, the realistic expectations of what we can achieve and his experience at this level and League Two should relegation happen. He's had to overcome personal tragedy recently which only makes me respect him more.

The board have got it spot on imo. I've read a lot of nonsense on here and social media criticising the board but I don't there's anyone else who could do better. We have to be realistic about what our level is and the fact that in League One we will ALWAYS be punching above our weight. Recognising that truth does not show a 'lack of ambition' but a clear sense of reality. That doesn't mean we can't sustain our presence at this level but we need to appreciate that we will always be battling against the odds and relying on good management and shrewd recruitment.

From the outside, our club should be the envy of others for the stability we have. Clubs with much bigger support have dropped out of the league and fear for their existence.

Welcome to Cheltenham, Darrell.

I'm pretty confident 'everyone' can get behind Darrell, looking forward to him being given a very warm reception on Tuesday night.

I do hope we have a complete clear out of back room staff and Clarke has full chance to change things

Excellent appointment.
Welcome to Cheltenham Darrell.
I’m sure you’ll do your very best for the club and manage to keep us in League One.
Good luck.

Doubtful I’d have thought. It’ll no doubt cost a pretty penny to pay Wade off and we’ll effectively be paying the wages of two managers for a good while.
But expect staff changes before next season starts.

surely that's part of the new manager deal, he gets to bring in his staff (within reason) ?

I firmly believe Kevin Russell will be leaving soon. I think he only came in as a favour to Wade, so will be looking for a way out once DC settles in.

probably Russel and possibly Russ by mutual consent

Clarke mates may not be readily available so might not see major changes until the summer
He will have plenty of slots to fill on and off the park whichever league we are in

Best of luck and I hope the board back him especially as there is a new TV being announced

Welcome Darren Clarke; hope you succeed in turning round our [mis]fortunes.
Surprised to note "we" didn't make the headlines on BBC Sport though!

Darrell.

We maybe didn't make the headlines, but I certainly saw a couple of things on social media from BBC Sport and Match of the Day about manager-less Cheltenham Town's new record...

Maybe it didn't make the news because it has not yet been officially announced...?

Nothing on the website, nothing on FB (can't vouch for other social media).

Would of been my 2nd choice so happy with his appointment. What we must do is give him a chance even if that means next season in Div 2. If he keeps us up he wont be here long, but hes a lot of turds to polish I believe.

The sacking from port vale is a hard one to judge given what the man had gone through at the time, poor results yes but I'm not sure any person would be returning to a job so soon and being in a good enough mind set to do it properly.

I personally think we're very lucky in our current form and position to appoint a manager with 5 promotions on his cv,yes two were in non league but its better than many that we could have gone for.
