Sacked by Bristol Rovers. His comments after their last game against Stevenage and Steve Evans:

“Obviously, the fat man's going bananas at the referee which is normal for the end of a game. Every referee at this level knows they're going to get the weeble wobbling across the pitch and berating them.”

Although he is absolutely correct, his choices of descriptive words are not the best in this day and age.

 the only time I've agreed with Barton, I think. Not that I listen to him much.

he's a vile character but kind of appreciate what he's said, would like to see more 'football people' called out on boorish behavior. Obviously in a more nuanced way than Barton's.

Just goes to show, if you look hard enough and wait long enough, you will find some endearing quality in most people

The right sentiments but I agree about his description not being suitable. I prefer "nuts" to "bananas". A nice two year payout banked by Joey.

Good fit for Steve Cotterill?
Plenty of experience at this level and lives in Bristol?
And how about Wade Elliott for Cotts no 2?

Whilst not necessarily a move-killer, the link to Bristol City might put a spanner in that idea.

Wardy was well regarded at both.

Rovers owner has apparently said that he wants a manager with experience of taking a club up into the championship.
Ideal job for Steve then.

Surely it has to be more than that. It seems an excuse for sacking him rather than based on the performances on the pitch. I am sure if BR were in top 6, it wouldn't have happened and he would have been made to apologise and then it would be forgotten all about.

don’t think that was the issue, the squad Barton had is good enough to be playoffs or around that area, they’re not so he’s gone.

7 points off the play offs with two games in hand.
See they've given up on having a new stadium and are developing the one they have.

Incidentally City have just sacked Nigel Pearson who has done as well he has could given their tight budget and the fans realise this.

One of the problems being the Landsowns owners; thankfully GCCC rebutted their interest i gather!
