Believe it when I read it from the club but I'd be very happy with that. I know there's a good few who won't though.

If he does come back, I wonder what will have changed his mind, because we've all been told it's never going to happen time after time.

You’ll more likely to read it from JP first.

Cotterill I can see it but why Milton that's another appointment on sentiment alone.

We should not be going back to the past. Move forwards FFS

It could just be to the end of the season, which would work out well

We have to somehow finish 22nd in the division this season. If it takes going back to the past, let's go.

Because maybe SC, if it is him, trusts Rusty and knows he will support him as required. Maybe you want to choose his assistant for him?

So easy to forget how Russ was as big a reason for our successes from 2015-2023 as anyone else.

Him moving upstairs is part of where it all started going wrong, but he was a great assistant.

I don't think I'd want Cotts back for a full rebuild, but if he and Russ come in until the end of the season to steady the ship and keep us up, then I'm all for it. Right now, 22nd in May is all that matters. We can rebuild in the summer once we're safe.

Milton was Head of Recruitment at FGR not on the coaching staff. When he was here under Gary Johnson he was assistant only in title with Downes acting more in that capacity. When Duff was here it was really more Wade as his right hand and Russ supporting. No doubt he's a great club man but I'm not convinced he's a great number two. If we have Cotterill then I would want similar to Graham Allner who made a huge difference when he came in here.

Downes was made a coach towards the end of Johnson's tenure. Russ was very much the assistant before then, and in the NL Champions season. Watch the DVD from that season and see how vocal Russ is, He was never just a mug on the side.

He was also Wade's assistant for his first season as well. Wade also didn't come in until Duff's first summer.

Russ was a great number 2 and, like some others of our past, doesn't get the respect he deserves.

It's semantics but Downes retired the end of the bounce back season after his injury at Boreham Wood and was made coach then is my recollection. I don't dislike Russ a good club man who cares, I'm only questioning if he really brings what we need from a technical standpoint.

Still. He never did at the time.

If Cotterill comes in, he should have whomever he wants as his no.2.

No, he came back the season after and 15 appearances in League Two. I recall he was signed on as a player the season after that but didn't make a match day squad.

You are right I now recall he played in the draw with Pompey.

I can't see any way in which their paths have crossed.

Just to correct this, Wade came in to the club in September 2020, so in Duff's second summer, not first.

Someone has recruited well at Forest Green. Robbie Savage has brought some in but Russell must have contributed .

Mark Bowen came in to lead the recruitment at FGR that was just before Cotterill left.

Error Gab. Cotts won three promotions.

Good call, looks like OP get this spot on (assuming Milton is confirmed too).
