Have just seen on Facebook that Nesty - Roger Knapp - has sadly passed away.

It goes without saying that he is an absolute legend on this board and he will be very sorely missed.

RIP Nesty :(

I just heard this morning and was trying to get it validated before posting anything but sounds like it is indeed true. Roger was a genuine gent and did a huge amount for the club including creating and maintaining our first ever website back in the early Steve Cotterill days. He was also a key figure in the creation of this forum as well as an admin for many years.

I was aware that had been some health issues but hadn't spoken to him in a few months, very sad news. I really hope you are up there somewhere with TaxiDave, RichP and a few others looking down on the 2nd coming of the Robins under Sir Steve.

I did PM asl to double-check, but had it verified elsewhere.

It goes without saying that I lived on his history site at times just studying the results over the years. It's a shame they're now gone (hopefully someone will be able to recover them).

Really sad to here this. I have known Roger for many years, through this forum, through his history site and in person.

Sad news. I knew he'd been ill in the last few years and it's never good to lose a fan of his standing. It was his work that built the original Robin's Nest (and signed me up as a moderator waaaay back when he asked for volunteers!) which, like it or not, has outlived all other attempts to provide a fan's forum. His name will live on in this forum.

Damn. RIP Nesty.
Legend on this board, or a club legend? I'm not sure how one would define a club legend, but I'm sure to a lot of us fans he's certainly been more a more respected figure than most of the players have been.

Very sad to see this news. Although I didn't know him I always enjoyed his input to this board and of course applaud his role in setting it up.

I second that wholeheartedly.

They are not all gone (though they are from that site and the internet archive). I have them and have been trying to enhance them with team line-ups and goal scorers. I've made all of them available from 1989/90 to 2024/24 as a spreadsheet. I also have a set from 1932/33 to 1939/40 with line-ups that I'm looking to publish soonish.

I don't know if the Trust would be interested in taking them? The club website is unreliable as it goes through so many redesigns.

Sad news, was unaware of his work in the early days of a CTFC Website and here, an unsung hero that paved the way for where we are now.

RIP

As Ihearye says - a great effort Sir.

I think this is truely Nesty's site. Let's please hope it carries on with the same branding. Thanks Nesty.

This may not be possible depending on format, etc, but I would suggest a separate part of this forum for it, maybe dedicated to Nesty...? Failing that, and if nobody else, such as the Trust, wants to publish it, I might be able to sort out a website for it (eventually), if you'd like.

My first thought was actually to approach Paul Godfrey. After all, he's the club archivist, I thought?

My spreadsheet is in csv format so should be easy to import. From professional experience, I know how venerable websites are and digital objects in general can be without a commitment to manage, curate, and preserve them. So, I'm looking to address that sharing these things.

In my haste yesterday I did not acknowledge that Nesty's work, or the work he hosted, was an invaluable way into the club's history. I'm glad I used them when I did and grateful they were there.

Also this forum has been the place i've returned to once Twitter became, well, you know what it became. I'm glad to see it is still here. Long may it remain so, and carry on as his legacy.
