I see Johnson wants his generals back to boss the dressing room.

Yes in isolation it may be looking a bit that way but hopefully over the next few weeks we will see this as a small piece in the overall masterplan of building a solid experienced spine and complementing that with some young dynamism. One can hope anyway!
this buffoon was kicking balls into away fans and kicking balls into his teammates face, we can do much better than this.Warwickshire Robin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:21Yes in isolation it may be looking a bit that way but hopefully over the next few weeks we will see this as a small piece in the overall masterplan of building a solid experienced spine and complementing that with some young dynamism. Also, it was pointed out on the Robins Report pod last week we need a new captain with Longy departing to the footballing graveyard on the hill and Lewis potentially leaving too, so maybe this is the new skipper?
Perhaps he will do a Ben Tozer and convert to sweeper…..Si Robin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:24 I suspect this maybe a more important signing off the pitch than on it.
I loved Pelly when he was here before and it was clear that the dressing room was a happy place in his time at the club. Is he what we need on the pitch though? I'm not convinced to be honest. Midfield is the one place we actually look well stocked in Pett, Bonds and Kinsella.
Good point! Totally forgotten about that!!longmover wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:28this buffoon was kicking balls into away fans and kicking balls into his teammates face, we can do much better than this.Warwickshire Robin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:21Yes in isolation it may be looking a bit that way but hopefully over the next few weeks we will see this as a small piece in the overall masterplan of building a solid experienced spine and complementing that with some young dynamism. if your face fitted then it was, probably a few that wouldn't agree, probably more down to GJ in fairness.Si Robin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:24 I suspect this maybe a more important signing off the pitch than on it.

They were MK Dons fans - seems ok to me.longmover wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:28this buffoon was kicking balls into away fans and kicking balls into his teammates face, we can do much better than this.Warwickshire Robin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:21Yes in isolation it may be looking a bit that way but hopefully over the next few weeks we will see this as a small piece in the overall masterplan of building a solid experienced spine and complementing that with some young dynamism. Not often I say this, but I completely agree with RobinRobin wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 14:56 We are signing someone that the director of football knows and trusts, he's good in the dressing room at all his prior clubs, probably won't start many games for us but is valuable cover. If this signing was towards the end of the window I suspect there would be a more positive response but with the number of our better players leaving we need a few marquee signings and this definitely isn't that.
Do you know that Flynn didn’t have a say?robinsrule wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 19:43 I’m never convinced about a Director of Football in any club. Shouldn’t it be the manager who is identifying and signing players? Isn’t that part of his job? What happens if a manager is trying to ingrain his philosophy and playing style on a team if someone else is doing the hiring and firing?
I'd imagine the majority of clubs now have a Director of football, this role doesn't just identify players, that would be head of recruitment but is looking at the end to end football side of the club and reports to the board. The manager tells the DoF what they want and they then work with the recruitment team and handle the negotiations.robinsrule wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 19:43 I’m never convinced about a Director of Football in any club. You will see 100% effort and it will be appreciated.RS1978 wrote: ↑11 Jun 2024, 10:28 Has any player had a decent second spell with us? Alsop - but he wasn't prolific under Martin Allen? Billy Waters scored a few under Duff in 18/19?
There's a reason why the old football adage "never go back" is mostly true. Not everyone can be like Mark Hughes on his return to Man Utd, or Henry on his return to Arsenal.
Let's see how Harry gets on![]()
We got that with Lloyd and it was appreciated. However, no end result. It takes more than effort to be on the winning side. Unless you are happy being plucky losers?horlickfanclub wrote: ↑12 Jun 2024, 09:29You will see 100% effort and it will be appreciated.RS1978 wrote: ↑11 Jun 2024, 10:28 Has any player had a decent second spell with us?
